Herbert V. Kohler, Jr.
Herb Kohler has been Chairman and Chief Executive of the Kohler Co. since 1972. While diverse in its products and services, the Company focuses on living environments; in the kitchen and bath with its tile and plumbing products, around the home with its engines and power systems, throughout the home with its premier furniture, and at two world class golf destinations that act as showrooms in Kohler Wisconsin and St. Andrews Scotland. The Company will host the 2020 Ryder Cup. It is committed to private ownership and has grown book value over the last 40 years by an average of 10.2% per year.
Mr. Kohler chaired the Board of Trustees of Choate Rosemary Hall and built there the Kohler Environmental Center on 260 acres; the first teaching, research and residential environmental center in U.S. secondary education.
He has been a director of the National Association of Manufacturers and a Trustee of Outward Bound, Lawrence University, and the Kennedy Center. He was elected to the National Kitchen and Bath Hall of Fame, the National Housing Hall of Fame and the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame. In 2002, he was named E&Y National Entrepreneur of the Year in Manufacturing.
